Where is my state tax refund?

We filed our taxes at the beginning of March and have long since received our federal tax refund. Take that you non-goverment trusting yahoos!

Unfortunately, we have not received our NC state tax refund. I read a headline in passing that refunds would be delayed due to the state budget crisis. I have a budget crisis every month and still manage to meet my financial obligations! If I don't, I get charged all kinds of late fees and get black marks on my credit. But the State of NC? Apparently they can keep my refund for as loooooooong as they want. Now mind you, if I were late to pay money I owe to them, they would be on me like white on rice. However, since they are the state government, they don't really have to move quickly. They can just continue to earn interest on money they owe me, just like they did during all of 2009, as I was paying money to them on a weekly basis. And as an added bonus, I get to continue filling the state coffers every time I make a purchase of goods, services, fuel or food. I also get to pay property taxes on the house and cars I pay for using the money that HAS ALREADY BEEN TAXED by the state. And don't forget the fees for having a valid driver's license and registration tags, which can only be renewed after, you guessed it, I have had the vehicle inspected. I wonder if the state gets a cut of the inspection fee? Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

My question is this: Why are the tea party protesters ignoring the taxes imposed on us by our state of residence and attacking the federal government? So far as I can see, they only charge two taxes.
